the digital orange photo blog I like to think of myself as a tuxedo t-shirt because I want to be formal, but really I'm here to party.

I'm Mike Cunningham and this is my photo blog.

All shot on my Yashica 124g with Kodak 160 VC film.  That camera makes Frank Sinatra look like a hobo.

Ever heard of Intellectual Property?  Well it's kind of a big deal.  And Knobbe Martens is globally recognized as one of the industry leaders when it comes to intellectual property law.

I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with many of the country's brightest IP attorneys and scientists.  The venue was oozing with high LSAT scores and billing rates that rival mortgage payments.  I saw some pretty impressive TPS reports.

The Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes is one of those resorts I'd consider spending my left kidney on to get a room there for a night.  The place was insanely awesome and a fantastic venue.  The staff was top notch and very cooperative.  Too bad we spent most of the day in the banquet rooms :(

Another highlight from the day was hanging out with the who's who of Improv - ComedySportz.  These guys were a blast.  I was very impressed with how they taught the associates improvisation skills that will benefit them in the workplace.  James Bailey led the charge and did a fantastic job.

Once we finished inside, it was out to the back lawn that overlooked Catalina Island.  Everyone enjoyed cocktails, a lot of cocktails, until the sun set, then it was time for dinner and some more cocktails.

Rumor has is it that a talented gal by the name of Aubrey Messick put together all the centerpieces last minute for every single table.  There were a LOT of tables.  Job well done.

After dinner, the folks from ComedySportz came back out on stage for a final performance and rocked the night away.  Good times.

Mike - One of the attendees commented to me, "I didn't even know we had a photographer there" and I want to pass that on to you b/c I think that is one of the best compliments you as a photographer could receive. Your obvious talent will garner business, but your professionalism will secure repeat clients. I have worked with photographers that I would not trust to do an event, but you did a terrific job capturing the event, required no-to minimal direction, and blended in with the group. Thank you - job well done.

3 shoots in 2 days.  It was an awesome weekend.

I started things off Friday night shooting for ocRAMPS.com at their warehouse in Santa Ana.  The skating was insane and you're not going to believe the hammers these guys were throwing down.  And yes, he landed it.  Several times.

Friday night was super fun, but the couple I met Saturday morning in Rancho Palos Verdes for an engagement session really stole the show.  They are two of THE raddest people ever and I'm overwhelmed with excitement to shoot their wedding in North Lake Tahoe this summer.  Here's a sneak peek at my new friends Megan and Dave:

After I finished the eSession, it was off to Terranea Resort to shoot the corporate retreat of Knobbe Martens, the Kings of Intellectual Property Law and all other important things intangibly protectable.  It was an amazing indoor/outdoor production that was nothing short of top-notch.

Basically what I'm trying to say is.....it's going to be a good week on the blog.  Come back and visit.

Just got back from Utah.  Don't get me started on my Cougar's shameful loss to FSU....bust.

On a more positive note, I spent an awesome afternoon with the folks of Spider Spray.  They are super rad people and great to work with.  Check out their website in the coming weeks for some Digital Orange Images.  Hollar.

7-11 is a rather special day for me.  It happens to be the day Little Nance brought me into this world.  Scholars maintain my mom loved Slurpees so much back in the day that she was induced on 7-11.  She may argue that's not the case, but we all know the truth Mom :)

My dear friend Shauna Lewis planned an amazing party for my big day.  Obviously we went with a 7-11 theme and managed to turn the front yard into a mini-7-11 store.  Hot dogs, nachos, taquitos, frozen burritos and enough Hershey's candy (thx A$) to give you ten muffin tops.  Word to the wise.....you should hire Shauna to plan your next big event.  She will blow your lid like a hot plate of nachos and jalapenos.

Okay Mike Melissa and Brian's pictures are amazing. I too love the Amtrak pciture, but I also really like the one with the wedding party at the temple with the tall bushy trees. I commented up here because I totally know Shauna Lewis. I went to high school in Folsom with her older siblings. She did an awesome job on your party. I hope you had a great birthday.
